Not That Simple

Someone said to me today,
“How did you do everything right?”

I keep doing things that make me happy.

Simple as that.

I can tell you though, happiness is a full time job.

Now that you mention it, it’s not that simple.

A Writer’s Vision

Writing poetry in the dark
Allows for your words
To be painted across the
Blank canvas of your mind

As they trickle down the page
Only you can see
The path they are going to take
As they are so intricately picked

Behind each line
A story of it’s own
Folding together
To make up one great journey

When it ends, you step back
A smile upon your face
As you look at the piece of you
You just created.

Where will this go?

Who are you and me?
The bees?
The trees?
I am down on my knees.
Begging, please.
I have lost all sight to see.
Two peas,
In a pod that has yet to be free.
Try and reason with the black sea.
The thunder rolling out a middle C.
Ever so faintly you can hear our plea.
Living as detainees,
In a world without a key.
We just want to be,
Anything you need.
Till we can be an escapee.

The Reveal

Before you can move on,
You have to admit what went wrong.

Do you know how long that took?

Before the guilt-ridden feelings,
Stubborn-ness and anger passed,
Allowing my mind to finally,
Believe what my heart was telling me.

I turned myself into someone you needed,
The rock that you could always lean on.
I was being pushed into the ground,
Not being able to come up to breathe.

No longer a rock but a pebble,
Being tossed around by someone’s shoe.

All the sad and broken feelings,
The passive aggressive revealing,
Must seem dark,
Getting a glimpse into my heart.

But through the year of self imposed torture,
I knew my heart was still pure,
I still wanted to apologize,
For leaving you without your rock.

I just –
Couldn’t take it any longer.

A Heart Cleanse

You won’t think this is about you,
Because why would you?
There is nothing in mind,
That would say you were mine.
Who knew a heart could ache,
Even after it breaks.
The past is the past,
But the feelings still last.
So I will try to be civil,
Tell my head to give a little.
For I still think about you,
For a moment or two.
I mean this in the nicest way,
I hope, my old friend,  your life will be as amazing as you say.

The Never-ending Mess

My mind’s a twirlin’
Tips and batters
I can see them dancing
Behind my eyes.

Not good nor bad
Mediocre racing
Of thoughts
That need some erasing.

Clutter
In every corner
Trying to push the nonsense
Thoughts aside.

The filing system
Exploded
Ideas, memories, and alike
Just laying out for all to see.

I need to regain some order
So my brain can think again
It took me a week to write a poem
And I have no clever way for it to end.

Please, oh, please, My Head, will you just clean up your mess?!

Jump, Leap and Run

Have you ever thought it wouldn’t all work out?
That it is all to good to be true.
You are just waiting until it all comes
crashing
down.
Waiting for the failure to arrive.
To busy to realize the success that’s already been accomplished.
Is it our fault or society’s?
Are we taught to always be on guard?
To keep the idea of failure in the back of our minds?
OR
Are we taught to strive for success and that failing is failure.
A mistake.
Where do we draw the line?
Should we be afraid?
Avoiding activities or goals because we are afraid of failing?
Have we become so ashamed to not succeed?
Shouldn’t we take some risk,
Get past that nagging voice of fear in our heads.
We are essentially
Waiting
To
Fail.
Another door is always open
But if you don’t jump at the opportunity,
Then it just becomes a door.
An incomplete.
A risk can be that changing moment in your life,.
IF you fail, you failed.
Move on and get past it.
Live your life without fear because you have already faced your fear.
So, jump, leap, and run.

I Crave The Me That You See

Me.
I crave the me that you see.
I have lost sight of my own eyes.
Disbelief has made my reflection compromised.
As if my head has been disconnected.
My heart, my brain, infected.

I feel like an absentee.
I crave the me that you see.
So much potential you say
Do I believe you or fade away?
How much of me am thee?
Like tasting fruit from a poisonous tree.

I try to give the third degree
I crave the me that you see
Me is turning into you.
A lost soul with no point of view,
A vision of what you craved
This is the path that you paved.

But I will be an escapee
A mirror I will come across
My poetry is like my sign of the cross.
A reflection that my mind can recognize
I will not need the sight of my eyes.
To crave the me that I read.

Lost: Creative Spark

When you have found yourself withdrawn

The writer will hold on

For what was here and gone

Might just have a spawn

That could creep up at dawn.

Disbelief: When there is nothing else to say

With every passing year

I take a deep breath

In with the knowledge that nothing has changed

And Out with the disbelief.
